SMDH Leadership

	Kasey Lucas, M.B.A., Chief Executive Officer, Hospital Administrator Kasey graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting/Business Administration from Drury University. He began his career in healthcare in 1999 as the Controller for Salem Memorial District Hospital (SMDH). In 2006, he accepted a position with Phelps County Regional Medical Center (PCRMC) in Rolla, MO, where he served as the Controller for four years. During his time at PCRMC, he pursued and received his Masters of Business Administration. Kasey returned to SMDH as the Assistant Administrator in June of 2010, overseeing the implementation of Meaningful Use for the facility. In January of 2016, he accepted the position of Administrator at SMDH, where he collaborates with the employees, Medical Staff, and the Board of Directors to ensure SMDH provides quality, patient-centered healthcare, with compassion and professional excellence.
	Monica Gargus, M.B.A., Chief Financial Officer Monica has been the Chief Financial Officer for Salem Memorial District Hospital since August 2015. Monica holds a Master in Business Administration from Webster University with an undergraduate degree in Accounting. Monica has more than 25 years of experience in healthcare as Revenue Cycle Manager at Mercy Springfield, Controller for Great Circle, and Accountant for Phelps County Regional Medical Center. Her experience includes investments, capital budget, operating budget, cost report, revenue cycle, tax credits, and grants. She is also knowledgeable about not-for-profit business practices and the ever-changing challenges of Medicare and Medicaid. Monica is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) and serves on the Relay for Life Committee.
	Debbie Hines, R.N., Chief Nursing Officer Debbie began her healthcare career in 1984 as Human Resources Director at Salem Memorial District Hospital. Because of her care and compassion for helping people, she began taking nursing classes and left her position in 1996 to pursue her new career. Since graduating from Lincoln University Nursing Program in 1998, she has worked in various nursing capacities. In February 2006, Debbie accepted a nursing management role at Phelps County Regional Medical Center. She joined Salem Memorial District Hospital again in September 2016 as Chief Nursing Officer. Debbie is committed to working with nursing directors, staff and physicians to ensure that SMDH is committed to every patient, every encounter, every time.
